This is what I propose for normal maelstrom: This smooths out progression and allows for heroic to be made into something better. Normal maelstrom then offers the current end game in it's entirety. However, in short order you meet another type (charged), which I found totally devalued the progression I had felt I gained, and the jump to needing it from heroic actually stalled my progression.īelow is a concise list of the changes I believe will significantly improve the maelstrom experience for all players.įrom the story line perspective, it makes sense to have everything available in normal maelstrom, for it to be completed. I found this a great feature and it made me feel like I was really progressing. For example, you have normal archonite for four tiers and then find the need for two new types when you enter the maelstrom. To me, the maelstrom has always seemed like too much was squashed into too small a space. However, to date, the progression through the maelstrom is somewhat stilted. I recognise I am still learning the game and expect it to get easier as my skill increases but I believe that any tweaking of difficulty (and therefore, the maelstrom) must allow novice players such as I to be able to have a enjoyable gaming experience as well, while also offering the elite players a satisfying tie too. In my thread I am discussing it from the perspective of a newb player (me) and that for players of my skill level, heroic is extremely difficult as it is. Game difficulty is something I have been discussing in a small thread on the forum and I thought I should add some thoughts here. The changes are significant but hopefully would not require a massive amount of additional work for the devs. This is a proposal for changes to the maelstrom as it currently is.
